Latest addition to exclusive Art Collection features spectacular detail

The latest series in Magrette's hand-engraved Art Collection is the Leoncino Wheke. New Zealand artist Andrew Biggs has created a remarkable level of detail that describes the story of Kupe's discovery of Aoteraroa/New Zealand. To protect the fishermen of his community Kupe embarked on a pursuit of the colossal octopus Te Wheke-o-Muturangi across the ocean. Following an epic sea battle, Kupe succeeded in slaying Te Wheke-o-Muturangi.

Andrew Biggs' deeply etched motif of this conflict wraps around the Leoncino case edges, lugs and face. In a first for the Art Collection the engraving extends into the integrated steel bracelet as Wheke-o-Muturangi's tentacles wrap around the wearer's wrist. The caseback is adorned with yet another engraved illustration of the great beast.
